Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer famous for his distinctive mixture of soul gospel, R&B as well as R&B. She's performed on Broadway and at the Democratic National Convention and in European festivals and clubs. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. She is now a resident of Atlanta she was born in Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical path began at church where she sang and was a pianist. She attended Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training on the city's R&B scene. She was the main pianist for Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. In 2007, Grammy and Tony Award-winning vocalist Jennifer Holliday sought her out to become the choral director for the theatrical production of Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine was the subject of national media interest during four consecutive performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was later invited to sing during the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
